We have said it before and we will say it again. We love Kellan Lutz. Not only was he in the most hilarious and under appreciated cancelled series of the new millenium(The Comeback), he is a major dog lover. The advertisements he does in support of saving the lives of dogs for PETA, is what makes him a star.

 

He and his rescued dog, Kola, are so cute. We are major rescue supporters.

Sandra Bullock and her cute pooch, Ruby, were walking through Beverly Hills. She is such a vision and role model. Not only has she been gracious underfire, she  finds time to be with her four legged friends. We believe that dogs bring peace and tranquility when our world is filled with chaos.

Hugh Jackman was walking yesterday in NYC with a cute new French Bulldog. He is such a dog lover. Protecting this dog from the cold was his first priority. It must be nice to be that doggy. :-)

West Hollywood is thinking about allowing dogs to be off leash at Plummer Park. The park is already a favorite amongst West Hollywood residents, visiters and dogs but there is no official off leash dog park at the site. Many residents are in favor for the dog park.

This is going to bring more dog lovers to West Hollywood, which is already a city filled with cute furry ones. We need to make sure that there are enough options for our four legged residents :-).

Ace of Hearts, founded by Kari Whitman of Playboy fame, dog rescue will be there and so will PoshPetCare. We will be bringing a cute terrier mix that is about 5 months old, who is available for adoption. She is very cute and has all her shots.

Sally Menke, editor for many Quentin Tarantino films such as Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction and Inglorious Basterds, has died this week in Los Angeles' Griffith Park. Sally was hiking her Lab with a friend during the record breaking heat we had of 113 degrees. The hike began in the morning but as the temperatures increase, Sally's friend decided to head back. Sally continued with her dog, on the hike. It is believed she became disoriented due to the extreme heat. When she did not return by 4pm, her husband and friends filed a missing persons report. By the next evening, her body was found in a ravine.

 

Her beloved dog did not leave by her side. The dog was found next to her body, extremely dehydrated.

It is a testament to our dogs love and loyalty. To the very end and in the worst possible conditions, her dog remained by her side.

We at PoshPetCare hope our fellow dog lover’s death teaches a lesson. Always hike with the proper supplies like water, food etc. When in doubt, always head back.

Authorities were investigating the deaths of seven dogs after an American Airlines flight to Chicago.

Flight 851 was an hour late taking off from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tuesday morning, according to Mary Frances Fagan, director of corporate communications for American Airlines. The flight arrived at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport at 8:54 a.m. with 14 dog kennels on board.

All the dogs on Flight 851 were "bound for other locations," Fagan said. When ramp workers began the process of moving the dogs to the other flights, they noticed the animals looked "lethargic." They tried to cool them down. The animals were taken from the airport to a veterinarian, Fagan said. Seven dogs later died.

The incident was under investigation. The dogs are being necropsied. The airline said it has drawn no conclusions on what happened.

"We normally transport 100,000 or more every year. We certainly do value pets that our customers have as well as our own," Fagan said.

The American Airlines website details rules for accepting dogs and cats on aircraft. Among them: "Temperature restrictions have been established to ensure animals are not exposed to extreme heat or cold in the animal holding areas, terminal facilities, when moving the animals between terminal and aircraft or on an aircraft awaiting departure."

The airline's website says pets cannot be accepted when the current or forecasted temperature is warmer than 85 degrees at any location on the itinerary.

The Dallas Morning News reported the temperature at Tulsa International Airport was already 86 degrees at 7 a.m. before the plane's departure, and 87 degrees at 8 a.m.

We hope this is a lesson fror all.

Dog lover, Robert Culp has passed away today. He was walking his dogs in Hollywood, fell, and died on the way to the hospital. He loved all dogs and was one the most recognizable character actors of our time. May he cross over the rainbow bridge.

We met up with Brandy Norwood today at Runyon Park. She was filming her new reality show. She told us exclusively, that she wants a dog. And when she gets her dog, PoshPetCare will care for her pooch. We love Brandy and her love of dogs.

Cinnabun, the dog of Sangra Bullock's husband Jesse James, is missing again. Cinnabun went missing on March 14th 2010. This is the second time this year the dog has gone missing. Seems like Jesse James could use the dog house right about now.

TMZ has just reported this;

According to the statement, Cinnabun wandered into a quiet storage room, throwing the shop into a panic. Thankfully, "she's back in the office and in high spirits."

We reported earlier that the company that tracks Cinnabun's microchip told us the dog has been missing since Monday. West Coast Choppers was mum on this.

We found this photo of a cat named Prinny. She likes to swim. Have we mentioned that Prinny is a cat? We grew up with cats and can tell you first hand that no cat we ever met enjoyed water. Not Prinny, she likes to jump in the pool and have  a swim with her dog friend. We must say, she looks very cute when she is wet.

Kellan Lutz' dog can't fly. He said he has been flying everywhere in the world the past two years. Kellan has been promoting the vampire movies, Twilight, and feels terrible because he never gets to see his puppy that he rescued, Kola.

Kellan says that he won't allow his dog to be put into cargo. He says that anything can happen down there and he couldn't live with the guilt if the dog would die on his watch.

Imagine that, Kellan Lutz is not only HOT, HOT, HOT, he has an amazing heart.

Actor Corey Haim was found dead Wednesday March 10th 2010 at his mothers apartment around 1:30am.

 

He was fighting an addiction to prescription meds for many years and has finally succumbed to them.

We found this photo and thought it would be a sweet tribute.

Sandra Bullock and Jesse James are feeding Cinnabun everything since his return over a month ago. Cinnabun has gained over 15 pounds since his return.

Jesse James said to PeoplePets.com:

"She's a little hand-shy, so wherever she was, someone may have treated her badly," he says. "I'm not looking back, though, I'm just glad she's home."

It is so upsetting to us that someone could take in a lost dog and treat it so poorly. We are so happy Jesse and Sandra Bullock have their precious Cinnabun back home in one of our favorite, pet friendly, cities, Long Beach, California.

It's a sad day in the doggy world. Our friend and peer Cesar Millan, better known as the Dog Whisperer, has lost his faithful companion Daddy the Pit Bull. He passed away peacefully Friday.

 

Daddy, who was once owned by the rapper Redmond but was given over to Millan at four months old, was seen as an ambassador for pit bulls and often helped Millan rehabilitate other problem dogs on the popular cable series.

Millan tweeted to his fans on Saturday (Feb. 20) "Thank you for your messages of condolence.  They mean so much to my family and me during this time."

 

Our thoughts are with Cesar.

Italian Tv host Beppe Bigazzi has been suspended after he admitted to eating "cat stew" many times and liking it. His on-air co-host was as appalled as we are at PoshDog Walk! Bigazzi defended his cruel culinary experiences by saying "Why, people maybe don't eat rabbit, chicken, pigeon?"

Terriers of the world celebrate!!! Sadi teh Scottish Terrier has won Best in Show at the 134th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show after placing second last year! Sadie beat out favorites Bru the French bulldog and Conrad the Puli.

 

Sadie gives us all inspiration to never giver up. If at first you fail, try, try again!

We posted that Jesse James, husband of Sandra Bullock, had lost his dog over 3 weeks ago.

 

Well, after many media reports KTLA.com had this to report:

"A woman walked into West Coast Choppers in Long Beach Wednesday morning and returned the 9 month old pit bull. James' precious pooch wandered away from the bike shop on Anaheim Street in Long Beach on January 25."

We are so happy for Cinnabun finding his way back home. And congratulations to all celebrities on finding their doggies this week.

The West Hollywood Ca. City Council passed legislation Monday Night that will ban the sale of cats and dogs in pet shops with an exception to animals that are “humanely bred, reared or sheltered.”

The ordinance, which was announced by City Council member Jeffrey Prang, particularly targets retail outlets that engage in the sales of puppies and kittens originating from mass breeding facilities such as mills.

Carole Davis, the West Coast Director of the Companion Animal Protection Society (CAPS) and ordinance drafting contributor, released the following statement last week:

“West Hollywood’s City Council has shown great leadership, wise judgment and compassion by considering an ordinance banning the sale of cats and dogs in our city’s pet stores. During this historic recession afflicting our state, we must relieve our overburdened shelters by promoting adoption as the only ethical choice when bringing a companion animal into our hearts and homes.”

The move will hopefully spur other cities around the nation to follow suit and finally putting an end to inhumane practices of kitten and puppy mills.

The ordinance still must pass a second vote in two weeks prior to becoming law.
